Chicago bankruptcy attorney explains a charge off on your credit report!

As a Chicago bankruptcy attorney, clients will often ask me if a "charge off' on their credit report means that the 'debt is gone'? The answer is absolutely no, it is not gone! What it means is that the original creditor for example a credit card company has taken a tax deduction or write off on their books. Almost always, at the same time the original creditor will assign or sell the debt to a collection agency who will aggressively collect on the original debt owed. The collection agency will call, may sue, and send collection letters to get the debt paid. If you have significant debt and you are overwhelmed with collections calls or have or getting collection notice time is of the essence. As an experienced Chicago bankruptcy lawyer I can get those collections calls stopped and even a garnishment stopped. Please call my office for a free consultation at 312-489-8182!
