The filing fees for bankruptcy are going up!
|
As a Chicago bankruptcy attorney, I have just learned that the judical conference has approved an increase in the filing fees for bankruptcy. Effective November 1, 2011, the filing fee for a
Chapter 7 in Chicago will be $306.00. The current filing fee for a Chapter 7 is $299. Also effective November 1, 2011, the filing fee for a
Chapter 13 in Chicago will increase to $281. The revenue gerneated by the fee change will go into the judiciarys budget. Granted the increased is only $7 for Chapter 7's and Chapter 13's over the current filing fee.
If you are facing foreclosure, a garnishment, or have several debts in collections, or some other unforseen circumstnace has caused you to fall behind on your bills, bankruptcy may be a viable option for you. As a Chicago bankruptcy lawyer, I have helped numerous people get out of their debt without losing their dignity. Please call my office for a free consultation at
