      Stopping A Garnishment

In todays fragile economy, most people cannot afford to lose any money to creditors. Basic necessecities such as food, clothing, and shelter are hard enough to pay for. Most are living paycheck to paycheck. When a creditor gets a judgment in Illinois they often will attempt a wage garnishment to get their judgment paid. That's why you need an Experienced Chicago Bankruptcy Attorney to protect your assets and stop creditors from garnishing your paycheck. Either a Chapter 7 or a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing will stop a garnishment even after it has started. The filing of either type of bankruptcy creates an automatic stay that stops lawsuits, garnshments or any activity to take money or property from you!

In Ilinois, creditors generally receive 15% of the gross income of the garnishee each pay period until the judgment is satisfied. In addition, creditors can freeze your bank account or go after other assets. Once a judgment is entered it is usually 30-60 days or even faster before the Creditor will send out a Citation to discover assets or a notice against a defendant. Filing either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy stops the bleeding and allows you to get your financial feet back on track. My office offers a free initial consulatation to discuss your options regarding bankruptcy and your other alternatives. If you are losing money to creditors call today at 312-489-8182 or email me at marc@practicinglaw4u.com! I want you to lose your debt and keep your dignity!
